PHILOSOPHY:
Students are as much a part of this university as are faculty and administrators. As such, the FSU Emergency Management program seeks to involve the participation of students to the fullest extent possible.
There are several ways to get involved:
1.) Internships for Credit
2.) Individual Volunteers
3.) Group Projects / Activities
4.) International Emergency
Management Student Association - FSU Student Chapter
5.) Student Government Association
1.) INTERNSHIPS FOR CREDIT:
The FSU Emergency Management Office welcomes student interns from all degree programs, grade levels, and skill sets.
All internships with the office are unpaid, however they are designed to be flexible enough to accomodate your busy schedule. Unless otherwise required by the degree program issuing you credit, office hours are not required.
Instead, we operate an outcome-based internship where we agree to the goals and objectives at the beginning of the semester, and you apply yourself accordingly to meet those goals.
Internships for credit are also subject to any additional requirements your degree program may have. This may include weekly journals and a term paper.
Did you know? Since January 2007, seven FSUEM interns have gone on to work full-time with the Florida Division of Emergency Managament!
2.) INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEERS:
Just looking for some experience? Not a problem. Volunteers are needed and welcomed for a variety of projects. We cater projects to meet your interests.
3.) GROUP PROJECTS & ACTIVITIES:
We can always use help putting on special events and activities. Groups of students help get the work done, fast!
Did you know? The American Meteorological Society helped sponsor Hazardous Weather Awareness Week and Alpha Phi Omega did sidewalk chalk art with weather messages.
4.) INTERNATIONAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT STUDENT ASSOCIATION - FSU STUDENT CHAPTER:
IEMSA - FSU is a regsitered student organization focused on development and networking of students with an interest in the emergency management field.

5.) STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION:
The SGA has an Office of Campus Security which works closely with the Emergency Management Office and FSU Police to ensure the safety of students on campus.
