Asbestos Awareness Training

Check the Training Calendar/Register

Anyone in the Facilities O&M or Building Services Departments that may work with or around Asbestos-Containing Building Materials (ACBM) should attend this course on an annual basis to learn of the multiple locations of potential asbestos health hazards that exist at FSU.

This training is a requirement of OSHA's Hazard Communication Program and the Asbestos Standard.

It is typically scheduled to last two hours.

Topics covered include:

  • Asbestos identification and uses
  • How to prevent exposure
  • Warning signs and notifications
  • Health hazard data
  • Reporting real or potential emergencies

Asbestos Awareness Training for Building Occupants

This training is available online

This training is intended to provide a general overview of asbestos containing materials, associated hazards and how FSU manages those materials to ensure building occupants are not exposed to asbestos fibers.


Confined Space Training

This training is available online

This training is designed for FSU employees who work or may work in confined spaces or permit-required confined spaces.


Hazardous Energy Control (Lockout/Tagout) Training

This training is available online

This training is offered to all FSU employees that conduct work that involves lockout/tagout, assisting with a lockout/tagout operation, or will be in an area where lockout/tagout is being done.


Hearing Conservation Training

This training is available online

This training is designed to educate you about FSU’s efforts to protect employees working in environments that generate noise at levels that can potentially result in hearing loss. Discover the simple steps you should take to protect your hearing and that are available to you.


N95 Respirator Training

This training is available online

This N95 filtering facepiece respirator training is for employees who are required to use them for protection against inhalation hazards of airborne aerosols.


Portable Ladder Safety Training

This training is available online

The training covers the selection, inspection, maintenance, use and storage of step ladders, straight ladders, extension ladders and variations of portable utility ladders.
